The Return to Austin, 2010 Cancervive Film
On October 10th, 2010, a group of 32 riders and 14 volunteers set out from Calgary, Alberta to ride relay style 24 hours a day to Austin, Texas. This annual 9-day bike excursion from Calgary is in its 6th year, and to date has raised over $1,000,000 to support Wellspring locations across Canada.
For the 3rd year in a row, Advanced Safety Paramedics is very proud to be a major sponsor of this event. For Steve Lilly, ASP President, and Eoghan Moriarty, the Operations Manager, this is their 3rd year of involvement with this amazing cause. This year we also donated one of our medical units to accompany the riders from Calgary to Austin, Texas. Steve cycled once again and Eoghan was the official mediagrapher this year. Nicole Wagermans, one of our EMT-As, donated her time as a medical volunteer.
This is the story of the 2010 Cancervive Peleton to Austin, Texas.
The Cancervive Peloton Project (CPP) is Cancervive's flagship event aimed at ambassadorship of cancer survivors and awareness of their issues. Every year, Cancervive choses a destination city that hosts a Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG™ charity bike ride and the peleton cycles down to participate in the event. Each rider sponsors a Warrior to fly to Austin to participate in the weekend's events and celebrate survivorship.
